What Meow OS keeps about you, in plain words. Last updated October 2026.
The short version
Meow OS keeps the least it needs to let invited people in and to keep their TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat logins. It does not sell anything and has no advertising.
What is kept
- Your Google identity. When you sign in with Google, Meow OS receives your email address, name and profile picture, and nothing else. They are used to check you against the invite list and to show who is signed in.
- Your sign-in sessions. A random token per signed in Mac or browser. Only a hash of it is stored on the server.
- Your saved TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat logins. The cookies that keep you logged in are saved to your account, encrypted on the server with a key that only the server can derive. They are used only to log you back in on your own devices.
- Your preferences. Theme, accent colour and a few settings, so a new Mac looks like your old one.
- When you were last seen, and whether you are online. While Meow OS is open it keeps a connection to its server. That is how it can tell you at once if your access changes, and how the admin can see that you are online right now, and when you were last on.
- An activity history for the admin. When people sign in or out (and on which Mac, or on this website), are turned away, or are added, removed, renamed or signed out, and when a new version is published. It is kept for a year.
What is not kept
Meow OS does not keep what you watch, search or send on TikTok, Instagram or Snapchat, and it cannot read your messages. Those sites talk to your Mac directly, through the VPN.
If you lose your Google account
Meow OS has an admin. If you can no longer sign in with your Google account, the admin can open your Meow OS account in a separate window of their own. In that window they can see what you have saved (your logins and settings) and move the account to a new Google address, which signs out the old one. That window forgets everything when it closes, works for a few hours at most, and every time it is used is written to the activity history. The admin can also change the display name shown for you.
The VPN
Meow OS turns on a third party VPN service for you. That service sees the traffic that passes through it, as any VPN does, and has its own privacy policy. Meow OS checks that the VPN is on by asking its own server, which sees only the address a request comes from.
Where it lives
Meow OS runs on Cloudflare. The invite list, sessions and encrypted logins are in a Cloudflare database.
Deleting things
In the app, Settings, Account lets you delete your saved logins from the server and sign out. Signing out also clears those logins from that Mac. To be removed completely, ask the admin to take you off the list.
Google sign-in
Meow OS asks Google only for your email address and basic profile (the openid, email and profile scopes). It does not access your Gmail, Drive, contacts or anything else in your Google account. On this website, signing in keeps a token in your browser and nothing else. LOG OUT removes it.
